Before you park
Scotland's famous "right to roam" does not mean campervans can park or camp anywhere.
Scottish outdoor access rights generally apply to responsible non-motorised recreation. They do not give motor vehicles the right to drive onto or stay on private land.
When using simple overnight parking, behave as if you are parking rather than establishing a full campsite. Keep chairs, tables, awnings and other equipment inside unless explicitly allowed.
Isle of Skye
Many roads on Skye are narrow single-track roads with passing places. The passing place is part of the road system, not a viewpoint or a parking bay.
Book these first

Bridge of Orchy cannot normally be reserved and should be treated as first come, first served. The backup plan on Day 1 lists the realistic fallbacks around Tyndrum and Glencoe — read it before you leave Edinburgh.
The landscapes
Each ridgeline below is drawn from the real elevation character of the place — illustrations, not photographs.
